With the aid of a scenario, this training program examines the “LASSIE” system, and provides viewers with six simple and practical steps for diffusing anger and aggression.

This is an educational program specifically produced to assist nursing care staff in understanding and caring for people with dementia. Supported by comprehensive notes the program analyses the changes that occur within the body and helps to explain how to communicate with people with altered behaviour.

The aim of this video is to consider how care staff can work with individuals who may be aggressive or violent and how to manage distressed behaviour. It will examine the following areas: What is distressed behaviour? Who can present distressed behaviour? Reasons for distressed behaviour, prediction and prevention, undertaking proper risk assessments, how to respond appropriately, verbal responses and body language.
